Little known plumbing facts:

  • Water heaters actually get smaller as you use them due to ongoing mineral build-up.
  • Water heaters come as the traditional tank unit and also as a tank-less unit. The tank-less heaters saves you significantly on your energy bill because there isn't a pilot light continuously running, and it will give you virtually unlimited hot water
  • Most washing machine manuals tells you to turn off the water between each use because the constant water pressure will cause the rubber hose to swell up and eventually burst, especially on the hot side. When did you last check them?
  • If you have small children in the home set your water heater to as low a setting as possible to help avoid scalding accidents. A hotter thermostat setting means you will have higher energy costs, it can shorten the life of your unit, and it does not make the water heat up any faster at the faucet.
  • The fixtures in your home that are not used regularly, such as in a spare bathroom, may leak or not work properly when company comes because the seals have dried out. Run them briefly each month to help avoid this happening to you.

Drain Cleaning

Your piece of mind is important to us. All of our drain cleaning equipment is made by Gorlitz, the top name in drain cleaning equipment. Due to the power advantage that Gorlitz machines have over the competition, they can clean lines that other machines just give up on.
Drain line facts:

  • Many people do not know that your kitchen sink and laundry drains are connected in multiple places and what happens in one, can affect the other.
  • Your commode, sink, and tub all share the same drain. If you have a line blockage and not a fixture blockage it could affect more than one of them.
  • If you have something go down your kitchen or your bathroom sink drain such as a ring or a small toy, all is not automatically lost. Immediately turn all water off. Put a bucket under the drain pipe big enough to catch about a half gallon of water. Unscrew the two joint nuts near the bottom of the “J” trap. Your missing item should still be in there.
  • Do not use acid-based products to clear grease clogs in you sink drains. They will at best melt the grease and it will just re-solidify farther down the line. A bleach based product or a product that will change the grease into CO2 + water are far superior. Plus they are also much safer to keep under the sink with small children and pets around.
